Lizette Aponte Rosario was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico. She received her Bachelor's and Post-Graduate degrees from the University of Puerto Rico's School of Humanities, where she majored in Hispanic Studies. She minored in Art History, which she supplemented with courses in plastic arts and ceramics from the University of Puerto Rico's Fine Arts department and Fine Crafts Workshop; in San Juan's Art League and with professors John Balossi and Mercedes Quiñones.
Aponte develops works in sculptural ceramics about Puerto Rican folk themes. Her distinctive sculptures of children's games and Caribbean customs are crafted by hand using a spontaneous and simple language. The Puerto Rican's warm and expressive spirit stands out in every piece. The finishes in oxides and glazes reflect the vibrant colors of the tropics.
She has participated in various fairs and public presentations where her pieces have received a great reception. Due to the quality and excellence of her work, she was selected as one of 18 participants in the Collector's Cocktail that launched Puerto Rico's Second Craft Fair 2010.
She also participated in the XXVIII Plaza las Americas Craft Fair and its IX Carving Exhibition of Our Lady of Providence.
One of her works, Saint Francis, Patron Saint of Nature, was selected for the 2009 Art League Exhibition About Nature.
Twenty-four of her pieces were featured by the finance firm CommoLoco, in their 2011 Calendar – Folk Art of the Caribbean, which was dedicated in its entirety to the works of this artist.
